Deep Vein Thrombosis
Deep Vein Thrombosis, commonly known as D.V.T., Is a condition in which blood clots form in the deep veins of the extremities. If left untreated, these clots may embolize to the lungs forming a pulmonary embolism, a potentially fatal condition. In addition, these clots can impair function in the venous valves leading to venous hypertension and the possibility of debilitating venous ulcers later in life. In many instances, the removal of this blood clot, in conjunction with preventative medications, can give patients rapid resolution of their symptoms, greatly reduce the chance of pulmonary embolism and preserve the overall health and function of the affected blood vessel.
